What is Bowen Therapy?
Bowen Therapy is a holistic technique aimed to treat the body as a whole to promote and support the body’s own powers of self-healing. This specialized hands-on technique works directly with the soft tissues, connective tissue (fascia), muscles, tendons, ligaments, and it offers dogs a gentle, and effective way to relieve pain.
Bowen Therapy treatment is not a substitute/replacement for normal veterinary care, but rather is complementary to it.
Bowen therapy can loosen and separate tight muscles, increase blood flow, lymphatic flow; which is important for healing to take place after post-surgery or with acute or chronic injuries. Many rehabilitation issues can be resolved painlessly using Bowen therapy. This is beneficial in our younger dogs right through to our older dogs and can help with obedience and training. It’s also a wonderful therapy for rebalancing the body's energy to promote healing and wellbeing on a monthly basis.

More About Paws Back In Motion
Hi My name is Jill,
I have always had a soft spot for animals but my journey of alternative healing began when my 3-year-old Bernie’s mountain dog named Finley ruptured his cranial cruciate ligament. It was at this time we learned Finley does not react well to anesthesia, was sensitive to pain medication and developed an allergic reaction to his food.
I decided to enroll in the veterinarian assistant program so I can get a better understanding of the canine anatomy and techniques that are used in a veterinary hospital. Western medicines are very important and there’s no substitute but I found myself looking for more ways I could support him. I never properly understood how alternative therapy worked but found myself fascinated with it. I enrolled in a holistic dog treatment program that addressed k9 pain, stress and ailments naturally. I learned about reiki, the power of energy and at the end of that journey I found K9 Bowen Therapy. I was amazed by the results my dog had. I knew I had to become a practitioner so I could help people and their pets by providing an alternate way to relieve pain.
I never knew when I began Bowen therapy it would change my outlook of the body. I learned to look at and treat the body as a whole because everything is connected!!!
Bowen therapy has had such a positive impact on not only my life but my dog’s life aswell.
How Bowen Therapy Works
Bowen Therapy works with the central nervous system and connective tissue (fascia). The Fascia tissue is often not talked about but this tissue has a very important job. This tissue surrounds every part of the body, organs, muscles, bone and blood cells. It is essentially like a spider web that connects each part to one another.
By performing hand movements on key areas of your dog's body it sends messages using the fascia and the nervous system to communicate with the body. This will send the body in to rest and repair mode, allowing the body's own powers of self-healing to begin.

Bowen is not meant to isolate a specific ailment, symptom, or condition. It treats the body as a whole and takes into account the lifestyle, emotional state, movements, physical symptoms and imbalances that your dog's body is going through.

Owners' presence is key. The goal is to work with you and your K9 to rebalance the body and recognize the signs of discomfort and pain.

The hardest part is that you have to refrain from touching your loved one after treatment. This allows the central nervous system to respond without interruptions.
